Freeride Camps

[Currently Not Available} Our Freeride Camps in Gulmarg are tailored for snowboarders seeking to master deep snow riding and enhance their backcountry skills. Along with developing deep powder techniques, we provide instruction on safe route selection, avalanche hazard assessment, and more. These camps are ideal for intermediate riders.

Snowboarders who can confidently execute controlled turns on groomed red slopes are well-prepared to embark on their backcountry journey. With professional guidance and the right equipment, they can quickly embrace the pleasures of deep powder snow.

  • Focus and Sequence of the Course

    In our freeride camps, riders are equipped to venture into off-piste terrain. Through a systematic approach, we instill the techniques and skills necessary for secure and controlled backcountry riding. Daily priorities may vary based on participants' skill levels and learning progress.

    The courses commence at 09:30 AM and last for 5 hours each day.

Focus and Goals
  • Master deep snow riding under the guidance of an instructor/guide.
  • Benefit from small group instruction in a relaxed and distinctive environment.
  • Gain expertise in terrain and snow assessment, as well as hazard evaluation.
  • Receive avalanche training (search and rescue) and learn the 3x3 risk management method.
  • Refine your off-piste riding technique.
Day 1
  • Introduction to the slopes and warm-up turns.
  • Assessment of each participant's skill level.
  • Exploring and developing individual riding styles.
  • Building confidence in personal skills.
Day 2
  • Explanation and demonstration of powder riding techniques.
  • Optimization of body positioning and balance.
  • Exercises for adjusting body balance and utilizing edges effectively.
  • Initial runs in backcountry terrain near groomed slopes.
Day 3
  • Responding to avalanche accidents.
  • Explanation and demonstration of avalanche search and rescue methods.
  • Practical exercises in using avalanche safety equipment (beacon, shovel, probe).
  • Reading and interpreting the avalanche bulletin.
  • Initial descents in backcountry terrain.
Day 4
  • Full day dedicated to riding powder.
Day 5
  • Full day of powder riding on Mt. Apharwat (4,200m).
  • Introduction to the 3x3 avalanche risk management system.
  • Tips for safe route selection.
  • Theory on snowpack evaluation.
  • Snow stability tests and their interpretation.
Day 6
  • Full day of powder riding on Mt. Apharwat (4,200m).
  • Descend the Drang, covering 18km and 2,000 vertical meters.
Travel, Flights, and Visas

Our guests typically arrange their flights, visa applications, and insurance independently. However, if needed, we can assist you in finding suitable flights. Flights from Europe to Delhi and Srinagar are available with starting prices of approximately GBP 600-700.

When booking domestic flights from Delhi to Srinagar, we recommend departing from the international "Terminal 3". Please allow for a 4-hour layover for connecting flights. If you choose to fly from "Terminal 1", the transfer time between the international "Terminal 3" and the domestic "Terminal 1" is approximately 1 hour.
